Books That Shaped Me as a Writer
Every writer is, in some way, a collection of the stories they've loved.
Long before I began writing my own novels, I was the reader who stayed up too late turning pages and thinking about fictional characters long after their stories ended. The books that influenced me most weren't necessarily the ones with the biggest twists or the most action. They were the ones that made me feel something.
One of the authors who had the greatest impact on me was Stephen King. While many people know him for horror, what I admire most is his ability to create characters who feel completely real. His stories are often about ordinary people facing extraordinary circumstances, and that's something I've carried into my own writing.
I've always been drawn to stories that explore grief, resilience, family dynamics, and personal transformation. The books that stay with me are the ones that aren't afraid to examine life's difficult moments while still leaving room for hope.
As a writer, I strive to create characters who are imperfect but relatable. People who struggle. People who make mistakes. People who keep moving forward despite the obstacles in their path.
Those are the stories I love to read.
They're also the stories I hope to write.
The books we read shape the stories we tell, and I'm grateful for every author whose work helped inspire my own journey.
